  3. Artisoft has released LANtastic 4.0, the latest version of its network
  4. operating system, which provides improved support for Microsoft Windows
  5. 3.0, faster performance, and other new features, including UPS support the
  6. and ability to unload from memory without rebooting.

  9. {enhancements were requested from our end users,"} said Jack Schoof,
  10. Artisoft's President and CEO. {"As LANtastic networks grow in size and
  11. {number, we'll continue adding functionality that meets the demands of
  12. {growing businesses."}

  14. LANtastic 4.0 NOS and LANcache [(included)] support Microsoft
  15. Windows 3.0 in real, standard, and enhanced modes on both servers and
  16. workstations.  The INSTALL program has been refined to provide simple
  17. installation for a variety of system configurations.  The INSTALL program
  18. has also incorporated several new advanced utilities.

  20. Users can now unload the network operating system from memory
  21. with a command, and execute remote batch command on the server from
  22. their workstations. Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) support has been
  23. added, along with the capability to shut down the server from the
  24. workstation and to notify users of shutdown.

  26. The LANtastic 4.0 upgrade is available to all registered users direct
  27. from Artisoft.  For users of LANtastic 2 Mbps and Artisoft AE-2 Ethernet 
  28. adapters, the upgrade costs $50 and handles networks from one to 300
  29. users.

  31. {LANtastic for Windows software completes the connection.

  33. The final link between LANtastic 4.0 and the Windows graphic
  34. environment is Artisoft's separate utility, LANtastic for Windows. 
  35.  
  36. These Windows-oriented versions of LANtastic NET and NET_MGR
  37. provide the pull-down menus and icons that appear in Windows Program
  38. Manager.

  40. LANtastic for Windows will retail for $299 per network.
